Markup calculator
Markup is measured against cost; margin is measured against selling price. Enter a non-negative markup to calculate a selling price before tax.
Formula and example
selling price = cost × (1 + markup / 100)
A unit cost of 80 with a 25% markup produces a price of 100 and a 20% margin.

Common questions
Does a 25% markup give a 25% margin?
No. On a cost of 80, a 25% markup gives a selling price of 100. The profit of 20 is 20% of the selling price.
Are taxes included?
No. The result is a selling price before tax. Include costs consistently and handle any applicable taxes separately.
